THE MEDIUM-TERM YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PLAN (MTYDP) 2005-2009 In line with its function to formulate a national framework for youth development, the NYC is in the midst of preparations to come up with the Medium Term Youth Development Plan for 2005-2009. The Plan will identify indicators for program implementation, veering away from the broad strokes approach. Later this year, we will be conducting a series of consultations with the youth sub-sectors, as well as program partners for their inputs on a draft plan done together with youth sector experts and youth program implementers. The MTYDP serves as a guide for government agencies to utilize in the proposal or implementation of youth-related programs.
POLICY STATEMENTS Education The quality of and access to education must be improved, and students should be empowered to

Employment The entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino youth should be cultivated.

Health & Substance Abuse Adolescent and youth development should be supported with emphasis on adolescent reproductive health and a narcotics-free lifestyle for the youth. Read More
Special Needs Equal opportunities and proper treatment should be accorded to the youth no matter what special circumstance they may be in. Read More
Environment Youth volunteerism for the protection and preservation of the environment shall begin in the communities and schools. Read More
Participation The youth should be empowered to be role models for each other. They should strive to work towards a better Philippines starting from their own communities. The SK should be strengthened through proper reform measures and should fulfill their role as the focal point of the youth sector in the barangays. Read More

International Participation | Exchange Programs

Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP)

An annual youth exchange program that provides the youth with the opportunity to visit ASEAN countries and Japan, and establish friendship with their counterparts.

Delegates live on board a Japanese luxury ship. While on country visits, they undertake various activities such as courtesy call, interaction with local youth, institutional visits, and homestay with local families.

The program is being sponsored by Japan in cooperation with the ASEAN-member countries.

303 Youth Leaders from all over the country signified interest in SSEAYP. Confirmation of the 28 successful finalists will be on June 20, 2005.
