Seminar cum Workshop on Youth NGOs as Social Entrepreneurs

Background: 

      The International Youth Centre (IYC), Kuala Lumpur, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia and University Putra Malaysia (UPM) will be organizing the “Seminar cum Workshop On Youth NGOs as Social Entrepreneur” from 21 to 27 March 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with close cooperation from Asian Youth Council (AYC), Committee for ASEAN Youth Cooperation (CAYC) and the Malaysian Youth Council.

      The Seminar aims to inculcate the values and the importance of entrepreneurial and business skills in solving social/community problems and challenges. It will cover lectures presentation, forum, study trip, workshop session, group deliberations and plenary presentation relating to the role of youth organizations in social entrepreneurship as nucleus for social change.

Venue and Date: 

      The event will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from March 21 to 27, 2010. 

Participants' Eligibility: 

• Filipino citizen
• Between 20 to 35 years old
• Young entrepreneurs, young officials and university students interested in entrepreneurship
• Youth Organizations (YOs) or other agencies that provide entrepreneurial development for young people
• Conversant in English and have good communication skills
• Of good moral character
• Physically and mentally fit to travel
• Former recipients of NYC funded international programs from March 21, 2009 to March 21, 2010 are disqualified to apply.
• Must have a passport valid until at least six (6) months after the date of the departure for the program

Applicants without any passport details shall not be considered. 

Expenses: 

   Participants will have to pay a participation fee of USD100 per person, which will cover all local expenses including accommodation and meals and inclusive of certificate of attendance, field trips and local transportation to and from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Meanwhile, interested applicants shall cover their own roundtrip airfare. All participants are expected to arrive on 21 March 2010 (Sunday) and depart on 27 or 28 March 2010.
